Today, I’m connecting with Suzanne Eller’s blog for a #LifeFreeThursday linkup. It’s where bloggers meet up to encourage community and have a conversation around a single topic.
This week’s topic is “I give up.”
Giving up. For some us that is a really hard thing to do. For others, giving up is an easier task. No judgment either way. Because sometimes we are too hardheaded for our own good and need to give up. Other times we need to be a bit more tenacious, and depending on what it is that you are giving up – it could go either way.
I GIVE UP my plans, so Your plans can prevail in my life.
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21
I GIVE UP my selfish ambitions, so I can serve others in Your name.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” Philippians 2: 3
I GIVE UP my racing thought life, so I can focus on your truths and live in perfect peace.
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because He trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
I GIVE UP trying to figure it all out, so I can rest in the fact that You work all things work together for my good.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
I GIVE UP working so hard to prove I am worthy, so I can live the adventurous life of faith. It is faith, not works, that you credit to me as righteousness.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from ourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2: 8-9
I GIVE UP, so I can be Your disciple.
“In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14: 33
I GIVE UP.
There are so many things I hold onto tight-fisted, thinking that if I let go, it will be too much. Yet over and over God’s word tells us to give up, give our lives over to Him, and then, and only then will we truly live free.
