Another crazy hat I wear in this life of mine is a nursing hat (well, we don’t really wear hats any more but you get the idea).
I’ve been working part-time in recent years but truth be told, my heart isn’t in nursing any more. Yet I have so much respect for those who do it day in and day out. Nursing is not for the faint of heart on any level.
And while it’s not my passion any more, I’m still thankful for my nursing career because it taught me how to serve others and to lead well. It also gave me the opportunity to meet many wonderful families. Not to mention the countless friends I have made who work so tirelessly to care for the needs of patients.
But my road is leading me in another direction. It is one that keeps me more connected at home caring for my family, homeschooling, and spending a little time doing this writing thing.
Some would say, “Once a nurse, always a nurse.” and I suppose there is some truth in that. It will always be a part of my life whether I am actively working in the field or not. And today is National Nurses Day so take time to thank a nurse today!
