My dearest one-and-only daughter,
Sixteen years ago today you came into our lives and brought such joy and hope to our little family. I still remember how quickly you entered the world, as if you couldn’t wait to embrace it.
You still live that way. Embracing all that you see and do with a love for life that always shows on your shining face.
Not only do you embrace life, you take time to share your smile with everyone. I love that you always find a stranger to compliment when we are out and about and that you dig in your purse to give some money to the Salvation Army Christmas collection.
You make a point to never overlook anyone. A lesson you keep teaching me – to stop and recognize the world around us.
You continue to astonish me with your wit and never-ending love for great TV and movies. You love the superheroes, the supernatural, and sometimes the super-emotional. I love that you still watch Beauty and the Beast and a zillion other Disney classics to keep your heart light and innocent.
The stories you and your father tell when you two have an “adventure” also never fail to amuse. You have a wonderful father who loves you and enjoys every minute with you. The sounds of laugher so often fill a room when you are together. It’s a blessing that relationship between your father and you.
A beautiful, Godly, young woman.
That is what you are growing into. It’s hard to believe how fast time seems to be going. I feel like I just blinked and now you are 16.
As you tried on beautiful gowns for your sweet 16 party, it brought tears to my eyes to talk about shopping for your wedding dress one day and what fun it will be.
I’m so thankful for your kind words, your helping hands, your smile that shines bright, and your faith that keeps growing stronger.
I have no idea why God thought I deserved the gift of you, but I am so thankful that He did.
Keep smiling. Keep laughing. Keep shining. You are beautiful, my Hannah girl.
I love you!
