I realize I’m late for 7QT/SQT “Friday” because it’s Saturday. But in my defense, I have been just a little busy. Like packing up the house and moving across the state busy.
I hate moving. Oh, I love the whole new beginnings, new places, etc. part of moving. But the actual packing, loading truck, driving long distance, and packing – not so much.
(Dan excited that the truck arrived to start loading!)
We moved roughly 400 miles from Central Florida to NW Florida/Panhandle area a week ago. Thank goodness for my mom, sister and her husband coming to help us finish up and do all that packing/driving/unpacking thing. Family rocks!
I ended up driving whole trip without kids since we had 4 different vehicles making trip back and they never chose to ride with me. My Mom kept me company instead. She was great. We laughed a lot. At one point in the trip, she saw a sign for wine tasting and suggested we “drive-thru” and maybe get a taste for the road. (We didn’t but wished we had!) At that point I think we were only 2-3 hours into the 6 hour trip that actually ended up being 9 hours.
(Taking a little break from the heat and loading truck)
Budget rental trucks are just that…BUDGET. Budget would be the key word. Besides the huge incline to load the truck and the rising oil pressure that only allowed the truck to go 50-60mph the ENTIRE way, there wasn’t even a drink holder in the cab for my hubs. Bless his heart. But the boys took turns riding with him and keeping him company.
Because things are still uncertain for my husband’s job, we still aren’t sure where we want to live. So we unloaded 99% of our belongings into storage while we figure out the whole job/house situation. And you know what that means? Yes. Once we do find a place to settle, we will be loading it all up and unloading it. Again. Sigh.
Did I mention that I hate the actually physical part of moving? I do.
(Dan relaxing at hotel after a hard day’s work!)
Luckily, we have family that loves and tolerates us so we are staying with my sister and her husband while we house hunt and job hunt. Thank God for family.
It’s been quite a week since we moved and closed on our house. It feels like a whirlwind! But we consider it an adventure and thankful for friends and family supporting us through this transition.
I hope everyone had a great week and is enjoying their weekend!
